Peter Cashmore
Senior Real Estate Equities Analyst, National Australia Bank
Prior to his current role with NAB, Peter worked as an analyst for Citigroup and Burdett Buckeridge and Young. He has also held the position of Property Development Manager for Linfox Properties as well as for a Malaysian group based in Australia. He has lectured on topics of Property Development and Property Portfolio Investment Management in the undergraduate Land Economics program at UTS.
Gerard de Valence
Senior Lecturer, School of Built Environment, UTS
Gerard is Course Director for the MREI. Prior to becoming an academic he worked as an analyst and economist in the private sector doing research on the property, building and construction industries for the Australian Stock Exchange, the Property Council of Australia and the NSW Royal Commission into Productivity in the Building Industry.
Gerard has a long-standing interest in industry performance and development, and worked on industry policy in the 1990s with both the Australian Construction Industry Development Agency and the NSW Department of Public Works and Services. For the Commonwealth Government he was a consultant for DIST, including the 1998 Building for Growth construction industry policy, and the 2002 Cole Royal Commission into the industry.
Richard Stacey
Founding Director, Calibre Capital Ltd
Richard is a senior property fund manager with 30 years of experience in fund, asset, property, and development management, commercial agency and valuation. He is a founding shareholder and director of Calibre Capital Ltd., an independent property funds manager, which manages a wholesale property fund on behalf of some of Australia’s largest superannuation funds. Richard is a Chartered Surveyor, a Fellow of the RICS and FINSIA, and a member of the API.
Lois Towart
Lecturer, School of the Built Environment, UTS
Lois has over thirty years of experience in the real estate industry incorporating, private enterprise, the public sector, equity and debt. She combines a background in valuation and property research with experience in investment banking and funds management, with responsibility for raising equity for property investment, structuring domestic and international investment vehicles, and corporate advisory work. Lois is currently completing a PhD on the investment performance of the retirement village sector.
Jason Sunderland
National Head of Property, Westpac Banking Corporation
At Westpac, Jason specialises in Commercial property. His previous experience includes underwriting and rating over €10 billion of debt backed by commercial real estate located throughout Europe, for Standard and Poor’s (London), and working in real estate for Ernst and Young (Auckland).
Gordon Wing-Lun
Director, G&K WING-LUN Pty Ltd, Australia
Gordon has extensive experience at senior executive level, both private and public sectors, in the property, infrastructure, power and renewable energy industries, with a demonstrated track record in establishing and managing PPP partnerships within Australia and internationally (Singapore, China, India, and Vietnam). Transaction experience includes more than 25 years in transportation, property, energy and social infrastructure projects with most deals requiring significant engagement with construction players.
Paul Zahara
Director, Cranleigh Merchant Bank; Director, Cedar Hill Pty Ltd
Senior Lecturer, UTS
Paul was formerly a senior executive in an international finance group, board member of several specialist finance houses and Director of a major property development company. He has been Head of Funds Management for a boutique funds manager and CEO of a funds management company. Paul is a qualified land economist and has experience in many countries including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia Philippines and Vietnam. Paul has extensive experience in training bankers in lending skills, and has been a part-time lecturer in The Master of Property Development at UTS for some years.
