The range of applications for unmanned aerial vehicles, in particular quadcopter-like drones capable of hovering and vertical take-off and landing, is exploding.
A key weakness of drones is their limited energy autonomy, and hence limited flying time and range. Smaller drones can handle only very small payloads, and can only fly for a few 10’s of minutes. This new project will develop the technology that will circumvent this fundamental limitation in many cases, which will be transformative for the sector.
