Leading the new frontier in timing accuracy and security.

Setting the pace
The Network Timing Laboratory is at the forefront of establishing and trialling the next timing frontier: a system for the trusted synchronisation of computer clocks over the internet. This critical research will contribute to planetary infrastructure by replacing the existing system, which is inaccurate, unreliable, insecure, and will collapse under the load of the Internet of Things.
Exponential impact
With every computer running to an internal software clock and big data collections routinely timestamped, accuracy of timing across the internet and billions of devices is more important than ever before. The Network Timing Lab is dedicated to the development of Open Source software to disseminate our research advances as widely as possible and become the standard internationally. We’re enabling the detection of errors in the sub-millisecond range in servers right across the world, working with industry-leading partners to contribute to more accurate global timing.
