Outcomes Focused Program Evaluation
Program evaluation is a valuable tool for strengthening the quality of programs and improving outcomes. Evaluation provides an opportunity for critical, strategic thinking through collecting and analysing information about a program's activities, characteristics and outcomes. It allows you to assess the effectiveness of your program and improve future services.
This evaluation course is designed to provide you with the applied knowledge and skills to develop evaluation frameworks for a variety of purposes within your workplace. This course is highly participatory and interactive allowing you to apply learning throughout. Using Program Logic and other tools, you will apply evaluative practice and thinking and learn how to analyse the assumptions and values underpinning the expectation of program outcomes.
You will also determine appropriate evaluative approaches for the purpose of tracking progress, making judgments and decisions, building understanding, improving effectiveness and using evidence in program design and reporting. In this evaluation course you will also draw on your own work case studies connected to organisational strategic goals to build your own learning and capacity

Delivery style
This evaluation course will be offered in a mixed mode format consisting of online delivery via a live Zoom video link and face-to-face teaching on UTS campus.
Session one will be delivered face-to-face at our UTS Sydney Campus with sessions two and three offered online via a live Zoom video link. Location and Zoom link details will be released in the lead up to the commencement date.

About the presenter
Duncan Rintoul is an Associate of IPPG and Director of Rooftop Social: a research and evaluation firm specialising in facilitation and capacity building. Duncan has over 20 years’ consulting experience across a broad range of policy areas, ; including education, justice, human services, health and urban affairs. He works with a diverse mix of government agencies and NGOs and teaches executive education programs for both the Australian Evaluation Society (AES) and Australian Market and Social Research Society. Between 2015-19, Duncan initiated and lead evaluation capacity-building projects in the NSW Department of Education.
