Organisation: Seaside Scavenge
The protection and preservation of our collective environment has always been an issue close to my heart, so I was thrilled to get the opportunity work for a not-for profit that is tackling this major global issue at an innovative grass roots level. My role was centred around council engagement and encouraging new communities to be active citizens in the war on waste.
The skills I have developed throughout my Global Studies degree assisted me in being able to talk to unaware communities in the ways in which larger issues affect their community. I got to see, first hand, how green group charities work to create networks of local change.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Global Studies complete either a domestic or international internship as part of their degree, which enables them to gain practical work experience, applying their skills and knowledge. Featured are some of our Global Studies students who have shared their experiences undertaking domestic internships in Sydney across a range of sectors and industries.
