Organisation: Global Access Partners – International Centre for Democratic Partnerships
I was fortunate enough to receive an internship with Global Access Partners (GAP); an institute for active policy. They placed me in a Social Media and Research Assistant position within the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships (ICDP), an independent organisation that seeks to facilitate dialogue between emerging Pacific and Australian leaders. I’m coordinating ICDP’s social media presence, a newsletter and their Forum, as well as maintaining a social media presence at their international events.
I utilise my cross-cultural communication skills and writing skills gained from my Global Studies degree to lead an Editorial Team that is located all over the Pacific region. My role also sees me utilising my Legal Studies major and research skills to assist ICDP taskforce teams by researching social, cultural, political, legal and economic issues within our 6 target countries.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Global Studies complete either a domestic or international internship as part of their degree, which enables them to gain practical work experience, applying their skills and knowledge. Featured are some of our Global Studies students who have shared their experiences undertaking domestic internships in Sydney across a range of sectors and industries.
