Our approach
Raising children is not always easy, and every child is unique. We undertake a comprehensive assessment of the social, emotional and behavioural needs of the child and use this assessment to develop a treatment approach that is tailored to the needs of the family.
Where possible, we provide practical take-home tasks for parents to assist them in addressing difficulties and see a change from the outset. With younger children, this involves assessing and clarifying ways that parental behaviour can assist in developing the behaviour they want to see more of in their children and reducing the behaviour they want to see less of. In adolescents, we may see benefit from involving the young person as central in treatment, but commonly also involve the family around this work.
Our treatment responses are driven by an extensive evidence base that draws on attachment, family systems, behavioural and social learning theory and acknowledges that physical punishment has no scientific evidence in support of its use.
