Course content
Get to know your building code in depth. This course focuses on interpreting and applying regulatory requirements for dwellings and outbuildings under the Building Code of Australia and NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.

This course is designed for professionals involved in the processes of interpreting and applying building regulation.
With the shift to integrated assessment of development proposals, building regulations impact a new, and bigger, pool of professionals.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this building regulation course you will be able to:
- Implement NSW building regulations into your work.
- Apply the legal and institutional framework for the approval and inspection of Class 1 and 10 Buildings.
- Implement the general requirements, performance provisions and acceptable construction requirements under Sections 1-3 of the BCA.
- Apply planning instruments to building regulation.
- Identify and address key issues in assessment under the certification framework.
Delivery style
Online (via Zoom) - a reliable internet connection is required. Video connection details and teaching materials will be made available to participants prior to the course.

About the presenters
Stephen Krimmer is an Accredited Certifier and Senior Building Surveyor with over twenty years of local government and industry experience, with a specific focus on building code compliance, construction certificate assessments, inspections and education. Stephen provides a variety of engaging training courses to assist both local government organisations and accredited certifiers across NSW.
Craig Squires is an environmental health and building surveyor with almost twenty years' of experience in local government. He has taught at the University of Western Sydney and at TAFE and works at Penrith City Council.
Michael Wynn-Jones holds an honours degree in Building Surveying and a Masters in Fire Engineering. Michael is an A1 - Accredited Certifier in NSW, and has more than 30 years' experience as a building regulations consultant and nearly 20 years' experience in an academic environment. Michael is a former Deputy President of the Building Professionals Board (BPB) and is a consultant to the NSW state government on building regulation matters. Michael works as a BCA expert in legal cases and as a BCA design consultant for large building projects.
