Why study Media Arts and Production
- Our staff, students and graduates are acclaimed for their award-winning work in the film, television and media industry. Notable alumni include Kate Dennis, Emmy award nominee and director of television shows such as The Handmaid's Tale and Suits, Maya Newell, director of Gayby Baby and Tyson Donnelly, a VFX compositor for The Lego Movie, Star Wars and The Hunger Games. Meet more of our graduates and students.
- Build skills in niche areas such as post-production, cinematography, producing, sound or new media and graduate with a showreel to show to future employers. Students in their final year have the opportunity for their major work to be screened in an annual showcase. Previously this event has been held in a real cinema. Visit our student showcase for examples of student films.
- You'll gain access to exclusive media facilities, including purpose-built digital sound studios, high spec Mac computer labs, post-production editing suites, animation studios and a television studio/shooting stage.
- Our equipment includes industry-standard cameras, microphones and sound recorders, portable lighting, animation stands, gimbals and more. You'll also have access to a full suite of software, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Final Cut Pro, Avid, Pro Tools and Da Vinci Resolve.
- Once you're studying with us, you'll be looking to cast actors in your film projects. As a student, you'll gain access to the Star Now Casting Portal, where you can view current call-outs from UTS students and alumni or post your own!
- Expand your career opportunities by adding a second major to your degree. Options include Journalism, Creative Writing, Digital and Social Media, Strategic Communication or Social and Political Science.
