Study Strategic Communication at UTS

What you’ll study

This course is designed to be completed in 18 months full-time or three years part-time. You’ll begin by completing core subjects, covering topics like understanding audiences, risk issues and crisis and stakeholder engagement.

You’ll then curate your learning journey with your choice of four Strategic Communication electives. These include fascinating subjects like corporate marketing communication, creativity and innovation, media law and academic English. You can also choose to pursue an industry project, where you’ll create a strategic plan to address the needs of a real client.

Course highlights

Studying this course prepares one to work in a wide range of contexts as a champion for the positive application of communication in a strategic manner. This includes the often fast-moving and creative world of communication departments across a wide variety of organisations – including government, NGOs, and the corporate world. 

You can also position yourself to work for agencies that provide outsourced communication activities for a wide range of institutions. Responsibilities would include but not be limited to development, execution and evaluation of strategic communication campaigns, doing market research to support communication campaigns, evaluation of communication campaigns, crisis communication and engaging stakeholders.

Our teaching approach that integrates practice and theories allows you to be adaptable to various contexts of practice.
