  This is an exit-only course for UTS students who have completed the International Honours pathway within the Bachelor of Information Technology Bachelor of International Studies (C10239). There is no direct admission. Current UTS students may submit an Internal Course Transfer (Graduating) application to exit with these qualifications.   This course is designed for students seeking a comprehensive education in information technology (IT) and international studies, with a focus on language and cultural immersion. Ideal for those aiming to excel in global IT careers, it combines technical expertise with cultural fluency. The course also fosters proficiency in a second or further language, vital for global career opportunities.

  Choose this course to gain a dual advantage: robust IT skills and deep cultural insights. You'll benefit from a year abroad, language proficiency, and a major research project, setting you apart in the competitive IT field.

  You will acquire critical IT skills, including business analysis, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication, alongside cultural understanding and language proficiency. The course emphasises practical experience, preparing you for real-world challenges.

  In your fourth year, you will study in the local language at a university in the country of your language major and complete an honours level research project under the supervision of a relevant UTS academic.

  Teaching combines theory with hands-on practice, ensuring you graduate with both strong technical abilities and valuable industry experience. This approach equips you for diverse roles in the global IT sector, ready to navigate multicultural environments effectively.

  The course adopts a practice-based approach to IT education and the course content is designed with a mix of theory and practice. As well as gaining strong technical skills in IT, students gain skills in business analysis, problem-solving, teamwork and communication. Employers look for graduates with industry experience and, in this course, students are exposed to real IT problems.

  The international studies component of this course means that graduates have the added advantage of being well prepared to participate in a global workforce and a diverse range of IT careers and companies.

  This course is offered on a five-year, full-time basis. Students spend two sessions of study at a university or other higher education institution in the country of their major.

  2025 Indicative tuition fees for government-supported domestic students

  All offers for domestic undergraduate students are for Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP).This means the Australian Government contributes to your education costs, and you pay the remaining tuition fees, known as the student contribution. If eligible, you can defer payment through HECS-HELP, or you can choose to pay your fees upfront each session.

  Inherent requirements are academic and non-academic requirements that are essential for successfully completing a course at UTS. You can find the inherent requirements for your course via the inherent requirements directory.

• Assumed knowledge arrow_forward_ios

  HSC Mathematics Advanced and any two units of English. Mathematics Extension 1 and English Advanced are recommended.

  There are no prior language requirements for the international studies program. During their first year of study students complete a language survey to ensure they commence their language and culture study at the appropriate level.

• Professional recognition arrow_forward_ios

  Graduates are eligible to apply for professional-level membership with the Australian Computer Society.

• Recognition of prior learning arrow_forward_ios

  Students who have completed equivalent subjects at a recognised tertiary education institution may be eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL) if the subjects completed are deemed by the Faculty to be equivalent to subjects in the course. Established agreements for RPL with external tertiary institutions are outlined in the Recognition of prior learning tool.

  To be considered for recognition of prior learning, subjects must normally have been completed no more than ten years prior to the commencement of this course. Limits apply to the number of credit points of RPL that can be granted.
