The Wingara Indigenous Employment Strategy has a commitment to the retention and career progression of its current Indigenous employees. The Strategy will work to enhance the current model of staff progression and retention at UTS, promoting opportunities for further training to expand skills, increase job satisfaction and career planning for Indigenous employees and provide information on opportunities as they become available.
The Wingara Indigenous staff and postgraduate student assistance scheme is a flexible fund that can be used to provide opportunities for Indigenous postgraduate students; academic and professional staff to participate in any of the following:
- Seminar and conference participation, which will provide postgraduate students and academic staff with opportunities to participate in seminars and conferences to strengthen their research skills and build the profile of UTS in areas in which Indigenous postgraduate students and staff are researching.
- Career and capability preparation activities, which will provide opportunities to build postgraduate student’s skills in teaching, educational development, research, scholarship, the advancement of knowledge and its applications, contributing to the community and leadership within the University and personal standing.
- Staff career and capability professional development programs, which upskills all Indigenous staff (including casual staff) to become part of a dynamic, innovative and transformative UTS workforce. Staff will undertake ongoing capability development to successfully operate within a digital world through new digital workspaces, whilst operating in a more collaborative creative and culturally diverse environment.
Registration of Interest for assistance with conference and seminar participation will open in January each year.
