Dr Leila Gholizadeh is a leading researcher in cardiovascular disease prevention, focusing on primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies. Her program of research examines the influence of individual and socio-cultural factors on heart disease development and prognosis, including risk perception, symptom recognition, casual attributions, help seeking behaviours, medication adherence, and self-care. Her work spans cardiac rehabilitation, psychological well-being, quality of life, and the experiences of individuals with cardiac conditions.
Dr. Gholizadeh supervises research students and collaborates internationally. More recently, she has initiated a research program targeting cardiovascular health for women with a history of complicated pregnancy. The program focuses on the affected women’s and health care providers’ understanding of the risk and their risk management behaviours.
