Thirteen New Beginnings is the third collection from the Creative Writing program at the New South Wales Institute of Technology Sydney.
1987: Thirteen New Beginnings
…what if these significant elements are made to clash? I If the post-card becomes a fiction, or if a baroque style is combined with an unreliable narrator, if a plot doubles back on itself. A story without a 'reliable' narrator obviously lacks authority, if characters are not 'rounded' they may not be believable either. Deliberate uneveness may thus be introduced to disrupt the expectations of the readers and thereby make real readers of them. – from the Introduction by Stephen Mueke, who taught writing at NSWIT at the time
