Creating an experimental inter-disciplinary research space
The Cosmopolitan Studio is the research platform for CCS activities. CCS Programs foreground the role of civil society agents in cosmopolitanism. Accordingly, the 'Cosmopolitan Studio' is dedicated to qualitative on-the-ground investigation of lived social contexts in cosmopolitan societies.
The Studio houses partnerships for engaged research between UTS researchers and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) based in Sydney and internationally. It will operate on the model of a 'design studio', that is, it will be directed at creating problem-solving research agendas in dialogue with principal civil society agents of cosmopolitanism.
The Studio is an innovatory flagship in cosmopolitan research, bringing together multiple modes of investigation, constructing multi-faceted accounts using the latest advances in digital research. It provides a dynamic cross-disciplinary hub for the dispersed social science research community at UTS and is a pole of attraction for CSOs in Sydney and internationally, offering a conduit for high-impact public engagement around key priorities of social inclusivity and cultural diversity in cosmopolitan societies.
