Higher Degree by Research students can apply for 6 or 12 months deferral for commencement (a maximum period of one year). If you are not able to commence after the one year deferral period you will need to submit a new application. The same application process will apply. The new offer will be subject to the entry requirements and fees applicable to the new intake. See UTS Student Rules 5.5 Deferral of commencement.
- If you have received scholarship offer for Research Session 1 and wish to defer within same calendar year, the Graduate Research School will consider your course and scholarship deferral together.
- If you have received scholarship offer for Research Session 2, please refer to Defer your scholarship and check your scholarship Conditions of Award for deferral options before you request deferral.
Once your deferral request is approved you will receive a new offer letter closer to the commencement of the deferred session. Your offer will lapse if you enrol in a full award course at any other tertiary institution during the next 12 months.
