The Multicultural Women’s Network (MWN) is a space created for multicultural women to realise their full potential and experience equity and justice at UTS.
About the Multicultural Women's Network
Vision
MWN membership
Our vision is to build a strong community of multicultural women who are empowered and liberated to become their best personal and professional selves, and who are included as valuable contributing members of the UTS community.
We hope to achieve this vision by:
- Supporting multicultural women at UTS to feel empowered, visible, and connected through the establishment of safe spaces for professional and personal networking, learning and development and mutual support. The network also works as a channel through which the university can access multicultural women’s perspectives for policies, strategies, and programs.
- Influencing cultural and systemic change for equity and inclusion by advocating for targeted recruitment and retention practices, and opportunities to increase multicultural women’s meaningful representation and visibility at UTS.
- Celebrating cultural diversity at UTS in ways that acknowledge the expertise, lived experiences, and knowledges of people from multicultural backgrounds in meaningful ways.
Who
We welcome UTS staff members who identify as a woman and have been minoritised based on their cultural, ethnic or linguistic background. We also welcome allies who do not identify as multicultural women but are keen to support the network’s goals, are willing to listen and learn, and are open to challenging their own biases.
