Host organisations must commit to these requirements to host TD School students (BCII and MDSI) for an internship for course credit.
Requirements for host organisations
Basic Requirements
1. UTS internship paperwork
- Register on CareerHub (UTS’s online career and internship platform)
- Complete a UTS Workplace Health and Safety Checklist (via CareerHub as part of registration process). Renewal of this paperwork is required annually.
- Review and accept the student’s placement summary details (this will be emailed to you from TDSchoolInternships@uts.edu.au)
- If the internship is unpaid, complete the UTS Student Vocational Placement Agreement (via CareerHub)
- [Data Science Internships only] For organisations hosting Master of Data Science and Innovation students, within the first 4 weeks of the placement, the intern will need to create an Internship Plan that sets out a timeline for activities, agreed deliverables and learning objectives to help prepare for a mutually beneficial internship experience. The internship supervisor at the host organisation needs to sign off on this plan, before the intern submits it to TD School as an assessment task.
Complete a UTS Student Evaluation form at the end of the internship, providing feedback to TD School and the student. You will be emailed a link to an electronic form from TDSchoolInternships@uts.edu.au.

- If the internship is taking place on-site there is an expectation that intern will be using your hardware/software unless otherwise stated and arranged with the student
- If an internship is being undertaken in hybrid or work from home (WFH) format you need to provide clear and upfront information about any hardware and software requirements to undertaken the placement, if you are not providing equipment to the intern
5. Confirm internship details with the student
Students should be provided clear information before they start their internship on these details;
- Their primary contact, or contacts, during the placement
