This information will outline how to offer an internship opportunity to TD School students using CareerHub

Getting started – Register on CareerHub

CareerHub is UTS’s online career and internship platform. CareerHub is used to advertise opportunities to students and is used for the administration of internship paperwork.

To register:

STEP 1. Click the CareerHub employer link and follow the prompts to set up a profile for your organisation.

If your organisation is already registered and you have a login, skip to step 3.

Have a login for CareerHub, but have forgotten the details? Use this link to recover access.

STEP 2. Complete the UTS Workplace Health and Safety Checklist.

Add your internship opportunity on CareerHub

STEP 3. While logged in, click ‘Opportunities’ on the left-hand side menu, then ‘Add opportunity’. Input the internship details following the online template.  Add ‘BCII’ (for Innovation Internships) or 'MDSI' (for Data Science Internships) in the position title, so your listing is directed towards the appropriate student cohort.

In your position description please include:

  • Format for internship: onsite, WFH/online or hybrid format
  • Any preferred hours and dates, or highlight if there is flexibility (note: internship must fall within subject timeframes)
  • Any skills required or desirable
  • Any additional requirements for your internship e.g. WWCC or police checks
  • Your preferred application process, students will apply directly to you

To make an appealing internship listing, it is recommended to highlight potential learning experiences and career development opportunities the internship will offer. BCII students have reported this is the most important thing they are looking for in internship listings! So signposting professional development opportunities is a good way to attract student interest.

Examples might be:

  • Interns with have the opportunity to attend senior planning meetings to develop an understanding of strategic priorities.
  • Interns will be offered one-to-one career mentoring sessions with the team leader.

Notify TD School partnerships team

STEP 4. Email TDSchoolPartnerships@uts.edu.au to let us know you’ve submitted an internship listing, this will enable us to review your internship listing and provide any feedback if needed. Once published the partnerships team will promote the listing to the appropriate cohort of TD School students.

If you're listing an unpaid internship for students, this needs to be reviewed and approved by TD School's Work Integrated Learning Partnerships Manager before it can be published and offered to students to be undertaken for course credit. Ensuring you have "BCII" or "MDSI" in the position title and emailing the partnerships team ensures a quicker turnaround.

Students apply directly to you once your listing is approved and published on CareerHub. TD School does not view student applications or manage the application process; students undertake this directly.

Approval process for students

After you’ve appointed a student, they need to complete a CareerHub workflow to manage their internship paperwork and have their internship with your organisation approved for course credit. This must be undertaken before the student starts their internship hours. Internship paperwork will be sent to the internship supervisor listed by the student in their placement summary.

STEP 5. You will be sent the student’s placement summary (outlining proposed internship details) via email to review. There will be links for you to either accept or reject the internship.

STEP 6. If the internship is unpaid, you will need to complete the electronic UTS Student Vocational Placement Agreement Terms and Conditions form. This agreement must be completed for UTS insurance to be in place for the student during their placement.

For a paid internship, please provide an agreement directly to the student. TD School does not need a copy of this.
