Binge Eating (Bulimia Nervosa )
The InsideOut Institute (IOI) for Eating Disorders has developed a free evidenced based online eTherapy for symptoms of binge eating or Bulimia Nervosa for Australians over 16. They include pure self-help Cognitive Behavioural Therapy sessions alongside a digital Toolbox which allows users to self-monitor their eating disorder behaviours and engage in goal setting, food and thought logging, and thought challenging. The programs can be used as a waitlist intervention or as treatment, users do not require a referral, and treatment can be accessed online at anytime, anywhere.
Please note: Digital therapies are not indicated for people with severe psychological distress, who are medically unwell or who have experienced significant changes in their weight and have not been tested and are not recommended for people:
- With a current diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa (even if binging and purging are present), Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, Pica, Rumination and Body Dysmorphia.
- Who are underweight (a Body Mass Index or BMI <18.5).
Some of the publications on these programs can be found here: InsideOut eTherapy Platform (insideoutinstitute.org.au)
