Maths Inside in the news
“Maths is the language of getting things done.” These words from UTS Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Peter Scott, were especially appreciated by those assembled to celebrate the “launch” of Maths Inside, an initiative started in 2014 as part of the Commonwealth Australian Maths and Science Partnerships Program (AMSPP).

One of the programs formulated to combat the decline was the Maths Inside project, a collaboration between the University of Technology Sydney, Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) and the CSIRO. Maths Inside is a video-based learning program which takes students into the lives of scientists and the mathematics that they use. Each module is based around a short video featuring scientists involved in cutting-edge research.

KWS Mathematics: Maths in Society video
Kinross Wolaroi School Mathematics teachers are supported in their teaching with video case studies showing stories of how mathematics is used to solve real and pressing world problems. The resources created by the UTS research team align with the National Mathematics curriculum for years 8-12; highlighting the links between maths as studied in schools and the maths used in real-world problem-solving.
