Secure access to all your applications made easy with single sign-on.
Multi-factor authentication
Get started with multi-factor authentication
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides secure access to all your UTS applications with single sign-on. Sign in once every 30 days for easy access to all your applications, there's no need to remember multiple passwords.
Set up your multi-factor authentication (MFA) now at login.uts.edu.au
Voice over: Phishing is a type of cyber-attack that uses your email address to steal personal and sensitive information that can be used to impersonate you and maybe even steal from you. It’s on the rise—last year alone the number of phishing attacks in Australia doubled that of the previous year.
UTS is using multi-factor authentication, also known as MFA. This is to keep your information safe.
MFA protects your UTS account from unknown people trying to access your personal and financial details by using authentication to ensure that it’s really you trying to log in.
You’re probably already using authentication on things like banking, Spotify, Uber and ServiceNSW. It exists as an added security precaution to protect you and your information from being stolen and used illegally.
Once you’ve set up your MFA, you’ll be good to go. You’ll be asked to authenticate using the push notification every 30 days to make sure it’s still you and that no one is trying to access your information without your permission.

Ways to set up your MFA options
Okta Verify app
SMS authentication
Note: It's easiest to set up using both a laptop and phone, but you can set up MFA using your phone only.
Step 1
Go to login.uts.edu.au
Enter your full name UTS email address in the email field and the same password you use to access your UTS account. Your full name email address usually includes your first name and last name, and may include an additional initial or number e.g. jane.citizen@student.uts.edu.au, jane.g.citizen@student.uts.edu.au, jane.citizen-1@student.uts.edu.au.
Note: Your Student ID email address (i.e. 12345678@student.uts.edu.au) won’t work. If you're not sure what your name email address is you can check it by logging into UTS: MyAccount here using your Student ID.
Step 2
Select 'Set up' under Okta Verify and download the Okta Verify app onto your mobile device
Note: If your mobile does not support the Okta Verify app, select SMS Authentication instead
Step 3
If you have selected Okta Verify app on your mobile, add account when prompted
Choose ‘Organisation’ and then scan QR code to complete
Step 4
You’ll know you have completed setting up your MFA when you see a dashboard
Important: Applications will be automatically added to your dashboard over the next few weeks and months – there is nothing further you need to do.
