What they say
From the Peer Networkers
Yagnesh Bharat Vora
I have always loved helping people and the Peer Network provided me with the perfect opportunity. I came across the Peer Network in my 2nd Semester and landed the role. I wanted this role because, when I first visited the campus, I was lost and had no idea what UTS had to offer. As a Peer Networker, I wanted to help out new students and just give them the confidence that although it’s scary, it’s going to be alright. I acquired some soft skills and met a lot of friends through Peer Network. It is just a huge social community where you learn, grow and have fun while doing it.

Joining the Peer Network Program has truly transformed my university experience. Through the program, I've had the opportunity to connect with fellow students who share similar interests and goals, creating a supportive community that has helped me navigate the challenges of university life. Engaging with individuals who share similar experiences and aspirations has not only broadened my perspective but also made my time at university more enriching. And beyond just making friends, it's like I've found a whole new family within the UTS community.

Joining the Peer Network is one of my best decisions all year. I made many friends across different faculties, and we had lots of fun during Orientation. I also improved my leadership and communication skills through this program, and I learned a lot of new things about our university. Welcoming new students to UTS has also made me feel more at home at our uni.

The Peer Network program was a wonderful experience that allowed me to connect with both fellow peers currently studying at UTS, and also bright-eyed future students navigating their way through the intricacies of university. This program forced me out of my comfort zone and tested my adaptability, communication, collaboration, and active listening. I'm thankful for the opportunity Peer Network gave me to meet new people, listen to their stories, and further develop my skills in becoming a great leader.

I have always been glad to be a part of UTS and being a Peer Networker has been an experience of a lifetime for me. The work culture was amazing and I became an extrovert from being a shy person before joining the orange community. I also got to learn a lot of skills such as communication and leadership. Apart from this, the most unique thing I got to learn is how much effort and preparation is done behind the scenes for an event or session that takes place during Orientation. I am also grateful to all the supervisors for all of their guidance and support. From an encouraging morning briefing, to getting a word of appreciation at the end of the day, it has been an awesome journey.
