Fill your own water bottle and save money, reduce plastic waste and help reduce oil consumption. Approximately 52 million litres of oil is used in Australia each year to produce PET plastic for water bottles.*

Sydney tap water is cheaper, better for the environment, and tastes great!

Bring your own bottle and refill at the following places around campus:

Bottle filling stations

  • Alumni Green - 2 fountains in the central area of the Green
  • Building 1 - level 3, in the white bench in front of vending machines

Drinking fountains and bubblers

Some cold chillers are designed for traditional sipping and don't like being held on for long periods, so we don't recommend bottle filling at the following locations:

  • Building 1 - level 3 - underground bar, tap water at end of the bar
  • Building 1 - level 6 -chilled drinking fountain near the Medical Centre
  • Building 1 - loft bar - free tap water, tap at end of the bar
  • Building 2, level 4, beside the Student Learning Hub
  • Building 2, levels 5, 6 and 7, near the escalators
  • Building 3 - level 2 - chilled drinking fountain, student lounge
  • Building 4 - levels 3 & 4 - chilled drinking fountain, Harris St foyer areas
  • Building 4 - MPSH level 1 - chilled drinking fountain, entrance to bike lock-up
  • Building 4 - MPSH mezzanine/gym level - chilled drinking fountain, near the lifts
  • Building 4 - MPSH playing floor level - chilled drinking fountain, at far rear
  • Building 6 - level 6 - chilled drinking fountain, near the lifts
  • Building 7 - Levels 1& 2 - near the stairs
  • Building 8 - levels 2 & 3 chilled drinking fountains
  • Building 10 - levels 2-7, chilled drinking fountain Jones St end near goods lift
  • Building 10 - levels 2- 6,  chilled drinking fountain Wattle St end behind the lifts
  • Building 10 - hydro taps in all kitchens for staff, also better for glass-filling rather than bottle-filling
  • Building 10 - level 7, Aerial function centre

*Do Something! estimate that the production of PET for bottled water in Australia (582.9 litres in 2009/10) required 330,310 barrels or 52.5 million litres of oil.
