Eco Whisper, the world’s first silent wind turbine, has the opportunity to leverage government policy and demand for innovative energy solutions to expand into overseas markets.
Renewable Energy Solutions Australia (RESA) is dedicated to delivering a sustainable and secure future supply of energy. The company develops, manufactures, installs and operates their renewable energy solutions. The company owns a patented wind turbine (Eco Whisper) and licenses tidal and solar technology.
Eco Whisper is a competitively priced, award-winning, Australian made, horizontal axis wind turbine that is quieter and more compact than other models. With a lifespan of over 20 years, Eco Whisper has the opportunity to provide clean, fossil-free electricity generation to areas with favourable wind conditions.
The Challenge
RESA engaged the University of Technology Sydney to develop a global go-to-market strategy for their two operational Eco Whisper products.
The Solution
Drawing from a market research sample of over 130 responses, EMBA students deemed it critical for Eco Whisper to capitalise on its first-mover advantage. To position RESA as a global leader of wind technology, the team recommended a three-phase approach:
- Prepare the products for the market with analytical data, science-proven evidence, and internationally recognised certifications
- Launch Eco Whisper into one of the two shortlisted markets—Japan or the United Kingdom—which the team found to be the most attractive
- To scale, expand operations to second horizon opportunity regions, such as Germany and Portugal
RESA should also seek a joint venture partner with strong political and rural connections to improve network market share and product recognition.
This was of massive benefit to our growing business, as it completed a global market assessment for our turbine. The report was thorough and we learnt a lot about our company in the process.
