What to do if you have experienced sexual harm

For students
- contact the UTS sexual harm support line on 1800 531 626, staffed by professionally trained, trauma-informed safety caseworkers, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (UTS Security will connect you with support out of these hours)
- book an appointment with a safety caseworker via the Student Services Unit (email safety.caseworker@uts.edu.au or call (02) 9514 1177)
- lodge an online report (this may be done anonymously)
- phone (free call 1800 249 559) or make an in-person report to UTS Security and Emergency Management.
For staff
- make a report to your immediate supervisor (where possible)
- phone (free call 1800 249 559) or make an in-person report to UTS Security and Emergency Management
- make a report to the People Unit.
UTS staff who receive a disclosure or report of sexual harm or GBV about a student (survivor, alleged perpetrator, witness) must complete a summary form.
Report to an external body
You can also report your experience to an external body:
- online via the NSW Police Sexual Assault Reporting Option (SARO)
- in person to your local NSW Police station
- over the phone to the 24-hour police assistance line on 131 444
- the eSafety Commissioner: Report image-based abuse.

What if I choose not to make a report?
If you do not wish to make a report, you can still access help and support by making a disclosure.
Students can work with a UTS counsellor and/or a safety caseworker who will provide confidential support and assistance. They will also take you through the steps and support options, including the option to make a report at any time.
Staff may contact the People Unit or the Employee Assistance Program (Staff Connect).
You can also report the incident at any time, even at a later date. Making a disclosure can help you to decide what to do.
What if I don’t know what to do?
It's normal to feel overwhelmed in these situations. By making a disclosure UTS will be able to understand your situation and provide support, including discussing the options available to you.
