If you have experienced, or are experiencing, sexual harm you should report it. Any UTS student or staff member can report an incident of sexual harm at any time. UTS will support and guide you through the reporting process.
For students
- contact the UTS sexual harm support line on 1800 531 626, staffed by professionally trained, trauma informed counsellors, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday (UTS Security will connect you with support out of these hours)
- lodge an online report (via the UTS Counselling Service)
- phone or make an in-person report to UTS Security and Emergency Management (call 1800 249 559 in an emergency and Emergency contacts) and/or the UTS Counselling Service (call (02) 9514 1177)
- contact the Director, Student Services Unit (Sarah Lok at Sarah.Lok@uts.edu.au, noting that this email address is managed by more than one person).
For staff
- make a report to your immediate supervisor (where possible)
- phone or make an in-person report to UTS Security and Emergency Management (call 1800 249 559 in an emergency and Emergency contacts)
- make a report to the People Unit.
UTS staff who receive a disclosure or report of sexual harm related to a student (survivor, alleged perpetrator, witness) must complete a summary form.
Report to an external body
You can also report your experience to an external body:
- online via the NSW Police Sexual Assault Reporting Option (SARO)
- in person to your local NSW Police station
- over the phone to the 24-hour police assistance line on 131 444
- the eSafety Commissioner: Report image-based abuse.

What if I choose not to make a report?
If you do not wish to make a report, you can still access help and support. You can also report the incident at any time, even at a later date.
If you don’t want to make a report alone
Students can work with a UTS counsellor who will provide confidential support and assistance, and take you through other steps and options.
Staff may contact the People Unit or the Employee Assistance Program (Staff Connect).
What if I don’t know what to do?
If you don’t know what to do you can always reach out for support to discuss your options. Support is available regardless of whether you decide to report an incident.
