The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology was established in 2008, following the merger of the two disciplines.
Our history
Historical background
The Faculty of Engineering started in 1965 and the Faculty of Information Technology began as a single computer science elective in 1966. In the 1970s, the Faculty of Mathematical and Computing Sciences and the School of Computing Sciences emerged. In 2002, the departments of Computer Systems, Information Systems and Software Engineering combined to establish the Faculty of Information Technology.
In 2014, the Faculty of Engineering began a new chapter with the inauguration of the Engineering and IT Building. This marked the first time that the faculty operated together in the same location.
Making way for the new
Today, the faculty offers an array of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees aimed at building solutions for challenges of the future. Our industry internship programs give students real experience to match the needs of employers, and this is reflected in our high graduate employment rate. Our teaching and learning are centred on our unique UTS Model of Learning framework, which encourages a collaborative and globally relevant learning approach and graduate attributes.
