Project 89 Scholarships
This top-up scholarship program is available to talented Vietnamese students aims to address Vietnam's future industry and workforce needs, prioritising key research areas such as digital technologies, physics, biotechnologies and energy & environment.
Value and duration
This Vietnam government scholarship (Project 89) covers for a maximum of 3 years and 6 months.
The Vietnam government provides a scholarship fund:
- a tuition free scholarship of up to $25,000 USD (2022 rate)
- a stipend scholarship of $1,120 USD per month (2022 rate)
- an international return airfare and travel allowances
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the time spent in Australia (up to $1,000 USD per year)
UTS FEIT provides:
- top-up funding to support the full tuition fee (supplement the Project 89 funding), being the difference between the tuition/fee provided by the Vietnam government (Project 89) and UTS' tuition/fee
- a supplementary (top-up) living allowance in addition to the stipend provided by the Vietnamese government under Project 89 to bring the total stipend to the value of $37,000 AUD per year (2024 rate) to support students whilst in Australia
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- be a citizen of Vietnam
- have an offer for a PhD program at UTS FEIT
- be nominated to receive the Vietnam government scholarship (Project 89)
- commence full-time enrolment as an onshore international student at UTS in Sydney
