Limination explores the melancholies and tensions of existing in the liminal space between two contrasting cultures. Including nostalgic references to early-2000s Hong Kong TV shows and woven crystal toys from childhood, Limination is a celebration of a unique identity as first generation Australian-born Chinese. The complexity and nuance of this identity is conveyed through clothing, and the collection inspires courage in those who feel they don’t belong. Limination aims to enrich cultural representation in Western fashion, demonstrating alternative avenues that transcend orientalist norms.
