'On Viewing 'Outside Dibirdibi' is a collection of poems written in response to Indigenous artist Mrs Gabori's 2008 painting. The suite, comprised of three poems which were to elaborate on a visual element of the artwork, are written with a similar rhyme scheme, and follow characters as they respond to and reminisce with the artwork at a fictional gallery. Each poem's title reflects a stimulant of the painting that has significant importance to the persona. The poems are the result of creative input from my tutor and classmates, who together helped me to resist my fear of poetry and instead acknowledge its beauty and complexity.
