The UTS Exercise Physiology Clinic is a not-for-profit teaching and research clinic that provides high quality exercise physiology assessment and treatment services for children, adolescents, adults, and elderly in the general community.

About the clinic
The UTS Exercise Physiology Clinic provides a service to the community and is a training facility for postgraduate students undertaking a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology within the UTS School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation.
Clinic services are provided by our Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology students (who are currently Accredited Exercise Scientists) as part of their clinical placement component of their postgraduate degree and supervised by nationally Accredited Exercise Physiologist’s (AEPs) with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Clients of the Clinic receive the highest standards of service, and through the duration of the 6-week program, have access to the expertise of AEPs with extensive experience working across various health settings.
The Clinic offers exercise assessments, exercise prescription, and supervised delivery of clinical exercise programs on-site, that are tailored to your individual needs with a person-centred care approach.
Please note that we currently provide 6-week clinical exercise physiology services for two different categories of clinical conditions with different dates of offering. Please see details below.
Exercise physiology services
Please note that we currently provide 6-week clinical exercise physiology services for two different categories of clinical conditions with different dates of offering. Please see details below:
Category 1: Muscle, Bone, and Joint Problems (Musculoskeletal Conditions)
This clinic focuses on providing care for people managing musculoskeletal conditions like arthritis, sarcopenia (low muscle mass), osteoporosis (low bone density), tendon issues, back/neck/shoulder/hip/knee pain, etc.
This clinic is led by our master students in the early stages of the UTS program and is part of an initial stepping-stone into clinical practice. At this stage of their degree, the students are well equipped to deal with the wide range of muscle, bone, and joint issues and can tailor programs to individual fitness level, activity tolerance, and goals.
This list is not exhaustive. You may contact us to enquire about eligibility.
Category 2: Multiple Ongoing Health Issues (Multimorbidity or Complex Chronic Diseases)
This clinic category is for people with TWO more health conditions, which can include musculoskeletal concerns AND/OR other conditions like diabetes, mental health challenges, or individuals with cancer AND heart disease, etc. This clinic is led by students in the advanced stages of the UTS program who are equipped to handle the complexities of managing people with multiple conditions. Programs in this clinic are equally personalised to individual health status, and adjustments are made to help people reach their specific goals.
This list is not exhaustive. Multimorbidity is common in Australia (affecting 1 in 5 people).
If you are unsure of which Clinic Category you best fit, please contact us at clinicalexercise@uts.edu.au and we can assist you further.
Please note: Clients are NOT able to participate if you are an otherwise healthy individual seeking an uncomplicated exercise program to achieve fitness goals. If this is the case, we encourage you to consider looking into participating in our sister program:
UTS Sport & Exercise Science Telepractice Clinic.
An initial evaluation is undertaken to fully evaluate your needs and ensure you receive the best exercise program possible in a safe and welcoming manner. The evaluation will include completing our expression of interest form, where you will indicate your preferences for a session times (that will remain constant for the 6 week program duration) and answering introductory questions regarding your physical health and medical history.
Once your application has been evaluated by our Clinic staff, we will be in touch with you via telephone as well as follow-up email to further discuss your clinical needs and finalise your exercise screening evaluation.
You may be asked to obtain additional documentation (e.g. medical clearance, Guardian consent, etc), or we may refer you to a specialist Exercise Physiology clinic more suited to your clinical needs.
