Experts in our field

In the School of Communication, we teach from experience. Many of our staff come from industry, or combine their teaching responsibilities with ongoing professional practice. This means they bring a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on expertise into the classroom. As a School, we’ve developed and retained strong industry networks that open doors for our students including internships, guest lectures and awards and scholarships — and that enable industry partners to contribute to the content that we teach.

UTS may be a young university, but the research program in the School of Communication is mature beyond its years. Led by outstanding academics, our research covers the domains of Writing and History, Cultural Diversity, Journalism, Communication and Media Studies, Digital Media, Screen and Sound Studies, Politics, Society and the Environment. We take a contemporary focus to these traditional disciplines: our work responds to the technological, social and cultural disruptions that shape the world today.
