Professional accreditation
Economics forms the foundation for many other related professional fields. While many practicing economists are members of the Australian Business Economists or Economic Society of Australia, which also has a Young Economist branch, there is no formal requirement to join any professional association to practice as a business economist.
Career options
Careers for graduates exist across industry, government organisations and financial institutions in roles that focus on undertaking analysis for and providing advice to policymakers, funds managers and other corporate strategic decision-makers. The Commonwealth Government is a major employer of economists, where opportunities exist for graduates as labour, health, population, environmental and resource economists, micro and macroeconomists, econometricians and statistians.
