Security access for Science and Graduate School of Health
Access card
Building 4 and Building 7 have two security systems. Card reader security doors generally give access to the building entries, workspaces and lab spaces. Key cabinets are usually found within lab spaces and contain keys for specific facilities and equipment.
Your staff/student card is used to access to both card reader security doors and key cabinets. To work, all relevant inductions must be completed and access to the space requested, granted and programmed on the system.
You firstly need to pick up your staff or student card from the Student Centre.
How to use key cabinets
- Press staff/student card to card reader until light turns green
- Wait until buzz sound, then open door
- Keys and key slots are numbered and labelled
- To remove key - turn key to the left to unlock
To return key - insert key and turn to the right to lock
Note: Keys taken out on your staff or student card are your responsibility until you return them and lock them back into place.
Please return all keys to cabinet by end of day.

Keys
Office door keys
Office door keys are requested via email from your school, institute or unit manager.
For file drawers, cabinets and lockers
For replacement keys for file drawers, cabinets and lockers, complete the Key Request Form (XLSX, 12kB) and send it to science.security@uts.edu.au.
For under-desk drawers
Unfortunately keys for most of the inexpensive locks found in under-desk drawers cannot be replaced by a locksmith. If no keys are available for your under-desk drawer an eyelet and hasp for a padlock can be secured to the bottom drawer to provide lockable storage. Complete the Key Request Form (XLSX, 12kB), mark eyelet and hasp in Type of Key field and send it to science.security@uts.edu.au.
