John Heine Memorial Continuing Education Prize
Overview
The Metal Trades Industry Association of Australia (MTIA) established the John Heine Memorial Foundation in 1950 in memory of John Heine, who did much to advance the cause of the metal trades industry.
This prize was established in memory of John Heine to offer support and encouragement to high performing students majoring in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering. The prize aims to mitigate the costs of continuing education in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for the Prize, Recipients must:
- Be an Australian citizen,
- Be enrolled in C09067 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice, and
- Have a major in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, and
- Have completed 93-156 credit points as of the academic year prior to the year of award, and
- Have a Weighted Average Mark of a Distinction Average (WAM >=75).
- Must submit an application and attend an interview if required.

- Leadership in engineering
- Community service
- Academic achievement
- Plan to use funds and how they contribute to continuing development
- Other personal attributes
