UTS Law hosts leading international and Australian researchers to spend short periods of time in the Faculty. Visiting Research Fellows collaborate with UTS researchers and higher degree research students. Fellows are encouraged to participate in academic activities while at UTS Law.

Requirements for Visiting Research Fellows

Sponsor

You need to be sponsored by a UTS Law academic to apply for a Visiting Research Fellowship. Preference is given to Visiting Research Fellows who have an existing relationship with Law academics. In other cases, consult the lists of UTS Law staff, Research Centres, and Research Clusters.

You should contact the academic within your area of research expertise to confirm their interest in sponsoring your visit.

Timing

The preferred length of a research visit is 6 weeks to 3 months, with shorter or longer periods considered on a case by case basis. You will need to ensure your visit does not coincide with the University’s closure periods in December and January.

Proposed research project

Outline the title and nature of the research activity you propose to undertake while at UTS Law.  The work should align with the research expertise of your Faculty sponsor.

Outline how you will contribute to the Faculty during your visit e.g. convening a masterclass for Higher Degree Research students, delivering a public lecture, submitting a joint research grant, or producing a research publication or other relevant output. Visiting Research Fellows are expected to engage with and contribute to the UTS Law faculty.

Language requirements

Visiting Research Fellows need to meet English language requirements. You will either have completed previous degree studies in English, OR have completed an English language test or program with results meeting the Postgraduate research English language requirements for Law.

Further information on the Visiting Research Fellowship’s English language requirements is available on the International Office website.

Funding sources

Provide information about the funding sources supporting your visit.
