Director's welcome
Welcome to the Australian Stuttering Research Centre. We are a unique organisation where speech pathologists and clinical psychologists work together to improve the health and quality of life of those who stutter, and their families, globally. We conduct research to help understand the nature of stuttering and to develop new treatments for it.
Our most exciting research venture, with multi-million dollar funding from the Australian Government, is to establish the world’s first internet-based stuttering clinic. This development is intended to allow children and adults anywhere in the world, who have internet access, to receive an effective treatment for stuttering without cost and without having to see a speech pathologist or a clinical psychologist.
In addition to our cutting edge research, we provide clinical services to those who stutter, and we provide workforce training to speech pathologists in Australia and internationally. You can find links to additional information about these services at this website.
Research training is essential to the future of treatment and research for the disorder of stuttering, so we are proud of our postgraduate research training degrees. We have graduates throughout Australia and around the world who have received their doctorates as students with us. Our research training environment for such students is a dynamic and diverse learning experience, covering areas of speech pathology, clinical psychology, linguistics, education, epidemiology, biostatistics, medical imaging, information technology, and qualitative research methods.
