Getting started with the U@Uni Academy
The U@Uni Academy is a two-year program to give you a taste of university life, equip you with academic and life skills, and give you the opportunity for a pathway straight into a course at UTS. To get an overview of what the program entails, take a look at our visual map of the U@Uni Academy journey.
The U@Uni Academy program
Orientation Day
Students enrolled in the U @ Uni program come onto campus for the day with your teachers to hear more about the Academy, meet UTS staff and student mentors, and participate in taster faculty workshops. We’ll also provide lunch and the chance for you to get to know your fellow Academy participants!
Winter School
A hands-on, one-week experience to get at taste for a range of subjects. Held in the July school holidays during Year 11.
Year 11 workshops and mentoring
Throughout Year 11, take part in further on-campus experience, through a combination of one day ‘hands-on’ faculty-based and transdisciplinary workshops. Continuing on from Winter School, you will work alongside UTS academics, student mentors and staff to increase your confidence within the university environment.
In Year 11 we also run a blocks of mentoring (in Term 3) alongside the workshops. Mentoring is delivered by our Student Ambassadors and we'll come to your school for these sessions. They are there to support you in achieving your goals, whatever they may be - academic or otherwise!

Year 12 UniPrep
In year 12, we come to your school. As well as helping you with your HSC subjects, our Ambassadors can answer any questions you have about the HSC or university.
U@Uni Student Ambassadors
Our Student Ambassador are current UTS students, studying a wide range of courses – from games development, to nursing, to engineering! As they are current students, many of them finished the HSC not long ago, so they know what you’re going through and will have some great tips for getting into and succeeding at uni. And they're trained to support you in fun and engaging ways.
Your learning
Throughout the program, you’ll demonstrate all the amazing skills you’re developing and learning in an online portfolio.
You’ll document your self-reflection, upload the work you’ve been doing, and monitor your learning progress on UTS: REVIEW. This is also where we’ll also provide you with our feedback as you go via UTS: REVIEW.
Unsure of how to use UTS: REVIEW? No stress! Simply watch our YouTube tutorials to learn how to use it.
Many of the online tools you’ll use are also used here at UTS. So you’ll be one step closer to becoming university ready!
