High-tech meeting space under construction in Building 11
February 2015
If you’ve been wondering what’s going on behind the hoardings in the Building 11 entry lobby off Jones St, wonder no more!
In a few short weeks, UTS staff, students and visitors will be able to access a meeting space with a difference – the focal point being a high-tech interactive wall formed by the exterior of the data arena.
One of the first interactive walls of its kind, it will be supported by movement sensors and ceiling-mounted cameras that will allow building users to interact with a range of different visuals projected onto the wall when the space opens in late March.
A glass wind barrier inside the Jones St lobby will make for more comfortable conditions in the meeting space, which will be furnished with quirky, modular seating that can be configured to suit watching the interactive wall or chatting with friends and colleagues. A low concrete wall at the perimeter of the meeting space will provide additional seating.
The lobby’s versatility will be further improved by the addition of a mobile concierge desk at Jones St that can be easily relocated to support different events in the building.
Although the impact of the construction project is minimal – with noisy works taking place out of hours – please exercise due care when using the Jones St lobby in Building 11.
