Cultural life and events
Cultural life is a key site for the production of cosmopolitan civil societies through leisure, recreation, the arts and tourism. Through cultural life, civil societies express and produce underlying structures of social meaning. Participation in cultural life, from family celebrations, the arts, to music festivals, to sporting carnivals and holiday celebrations, offer forms of awareness and connectivity that underpin cosmopolitan orientations. How these activities and events are organised and experienced, and what they produce economically and socially, are important areas for inquiry.
The Convenors are Simon Darcy and Deborah Edwards.
