Students connect and learn over casual meet ups
Friendly gatherings blend a relaxed ambience with insightful conversations. Students from SSTC recently met over coffee and ice cream to discuss their university experiences and seek advice from UTS lecturers.
Shared stories and valuable insights
Organised by the UTS International Pathway team and the Faculty of Engineering and IT's Transnational Education Team (FEIT TNE team), the event aims to create an informal environment for students to unwind, share their experiences and ask questions outside the confines of a classroom. The event attracted many students keen to share their stories and gain valuable insights from their lecturers.
Most of their questions were around:
- Re-enrolment: Due to the high demand for some subjects, the places have been filled up very quickly. SSTC students were advised to enrol ASAP or to at least submit their e-request 3-4 weeks prior to the semester starts. For urgent cases, the faculty can help students to fast-track the e-request.
- Bachelor of Engineering Honours to PhD pathway: The selection of scholarship is very competitive, and the CSC scholarship could be an alternative option for students to consider. A PhD pathway information session will be held by UTS FEIT in the last week of March.
The event also provided a platform for students to connect with their peers on various aspects of university life. From tips on effective study habits to recommendations for interesting electives, the informal setting encouraged open dialogue and the sharing of valuable advice.
The UTS International Pathway team and FEIT TNE team plan to organise regular casual meet-ups in the future, recognising the value of such events in fostering a sense of community among students. By creating spaces where students can relax, unwind, and engage in meaningful conversations, UTS hopes to enhance the overall university experience for all students.
