SIMPaCT scoops two IoT Awards
Smart Irrigation Management for Parks and Cool Towns (SIMPaCT) takes home not one, but two IoT Alliance Australia Awards.
The collaborative Smart Irrigation Management for Parks and Cool Towns (SIMPaCT) project, which focused on using smart technology to manage the irrigation of Sydney's Olympic Parklands, took home not one, but two IoT (Internet of Things) Alliance Australia Awards on 23 May 2023 - one award for research, and one award for using 'IoT for good'.
The IoT Awards acknowledge and celebrate the profound influence of IoT on our economy and society. These awards honour the individuals and organisations at the forefront of innovation and exemplary practice, while also highlighting their remarkable accomplishments.
The IoT Impact awards are the most high-profile awards in the Australian IoT sector. To win two of them, and for one of those to be in the overarching 'IoT for Good' category, is just phenomenal. It has garnered widespread national recognition and acclaim for SIMPaCT and UTS, which will hopefully translate into ongoing support for this exciting and innovative project.

SIMPaCT stood out among a pool of 120 applicants and is a collaborative effort the Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF) is involved with in partnership with the NSW Government, Sydney Water, Sydney Olympic Park, Monash and Western Sydney universities, and industry.
Notably, the project stands as Australia's largest project focused on smart green infrastructure and represents a significant stride in advancing heat-responsive urban design.
