The Climate Change Cluster (C3) fosters a diverse research culture that encourages individuals to develop skills and take on projects/collaborations that lead to better informed communities searching for sustainable outcomes in a changing climate.
Recent projects
sea.museum - An ocean journey with plankton
A Years 7 – 10 educational activity developed by C3 researchers Professor Martina Doblin and PhD student Raissa Gill dives into the ecology and biology of the microscopic plants and animals that drive aquatic food webs. Originally designed as part of the Australian National Maritime Museum’s Women in Science program the activity showcases marine science career opportunities and will be made available with the Department of Education as a learning resource for students and teachers.
Superstars of STEM
Two C3 researchers Dr Alex Thomson and Dr Jen Matthews have been recognised as Superstars of STEM for their commitment to educating the public about global issues relating to climate change and sustainability and the promotion of women in science, “You can’t be what you can’t see”.
Coral Nurture Program
This unique partnership between tourism and science means that the 1000’s of daily visitors to the Great Barrier Reef are exposed to the shared knowledge from tourist operators helping to promote long term stewardship of the GBR.
