Timetable fields
Date
This is the date your exam is scheduled to take place.
Time
This shows the start of your exam availability window. Your exam will become available in Canvas at this time, and you must complete your exam before the exam availability window closes. The total exam availability window will be shown in the Exam Conditions field.
The time is shown in AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time, UTC+10:00)/AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time, UTC+11:00). If you’re overseas, please ensure you account for time zone differences as your exam will remain scheduled in Sydney local time.
If you are unable to sit your exam at the scheduled time due to time zone issues, please contact your subject coordinator by the Scheduling Difficulties deadline for the current session.
Duration
This shows the duration of your exam in hours and minutes. For AI invigilated exams and Timed LMS exams, your exam will have a timer from when you start the exam. There is no reading time for online exams.
For Take Home exams, your exam is not timed. The duration shown on your timetable is the recommended time needed to complete your exam. Even though your exam availability window may be much longer, you should only spend the recommended time on your exam.
Assessment Type
Your exam (or 'assessment') type can be found on your exam timetable under Exam Conditions.
The three exam types are:
- Take Home exam (not invigilated)
- Timed LMS exam (not invigilated)
- AI invigilated exam (invigilated)
Each of the assessment types are explained in detail on the Online Exams page.
Exam Conditions
This field gives you extra information about your exam. It shows:
- Permitted materials: your exam can be open book, closed book, or restricted open book. Your subject coordinator will be able to tell you more about what materials are permitted.
- Total Availability Window: remember, your exam duration is shown in minutes in the Duration field, but your exam availability window is shown here in hours. The exam window starts from the scheduled start time of your exam. It is important that you complete and submit your exam within the exam window.
Exam Provisions
If you have Exam Provisions, they will be shown in this field. This includes things like extra time, breaks, access to food, water or medication during your exam, scribes/readers and assistive technologies.
If you have any questions about your exam provisions or require adjustments for those provisions, please contact the Accessibility Service or your dedicated Accessibility Consultant.
