This subject examined core concepts of landscape through the notion of ‘territory’— a concept specific and critical to the practice of landscape architecture. The subject commenced with an introduction to relevant language, theory and concepts. Students then addressed general principles and means of landscape definition, appreciation, perception, mapping and analysis. Aimed at broadening their understanding of landscape architectural practice, the subject allowed students to explore notions of stewardship, from Indigenous notions of Country through to technology-driven techniques of analysis, graphics, reporting and data-recording.
