GLAMSLAM Fringe Events for 2019:
Where History has a Voice: GLAMslam fringe event at the Sydney Jewish Museum CANCELLED
This is Jack. In his hand he holds a picture of himself taken 64 years ago, on the day he was liberated from Buchenwald Concentration Camp. On that day, an American liberator offered Jack some chocolate in exchange for taking his photograph. Returning the next day, the liberator presented Jack with copy of the portrait. Now 90, Jack speaks at the Sydney Jewish Museum every week, normally to visiting school students. When Jack recalls the memory of the solider and the portrait, a cheeky smile stretches across his face; he chuckles at the thought of the chocolate, something he had not seen for many years. In this GLAMslam fringe event, the Sydney Jewish Museum invites you to come and hear a survivor testimony and take a tour of the museum, guided by members of the education and curatorial teams. cardiParty!
Join newCardigan at this GLAMSLAM Fringe event on Thursday 14 March, 6.30pm at State Library NSW - Macquarie Room - for a special one-off (maybe) cardiParty hosted by newCardigan founders Justine Hanna and Hugh Rundle and featuring guest speaker Liz Stokes from the Australian Research Data Commons.
Before joining ARDC, Liz cut her Data Librarian teeth at UNSW and later UTS, and has been part of the organising team over the last 2 years for Resbaz Sydney - an extraordinary unconference of skill sharing and digital literacy. She will share stories about how librarians learn and why they should be stepping into the data space. This of course will be injected with a good serve of enthusiasm for awesome projects and profession-appropriate training materials. We are also hoping she will relaunch her side project https://twitter.com/boganlibrarian because who wouldn't want that? This event is free but bookings are essential.
