The past two years at the Institute for Sustainable Futures have certainly been busy, reinforcing the vital role research plays in navigating an uncertain future.
In Australia and around the world, the effects of climate change are being increasingly, and devastatingly, felt. Governments and industry must respond quickly and much of our recent work has provided evidence and practical recommendations to support their efforts – to reduce climate change’s effects, and to build climate resilience across systems and communities. You can see examples of this work among our Project highlights.
In 2021 and 2022 we shared our expertise with the world at COP26 and COP27, and opened the conversation to the broader community in a series of public panel discussions and debates (you can see recordings of them here).
Significantly, this year, we formalised our approach to impact, articulating in practical terms the ways in which our research and engagement can be transformational and showing how making impact is at the centre of all we do.
And in 2022, ISF marked its 25th anniversary with a warm in-person celebration of our 25 years of partnering for impact. It was a great chance to reconnect, to showcase ISF’s decades of creating positive change and inspire us to continue on our mission.
