We have put together some helpful advice and tips on managing your money as a student. Remember, we offer a number of services to help you deal with money issues. For useful tips, tools, calculators and UNI specific advice, MoneySmart by ASIC is a very good place to start.
In addition, if you have a debt you can't pay, or if you are in a financial dispute, there are community and government organisations that can advise and assist you.
Legal Aid and Financial Counselling
There are times when we all need professional advice. These organisations offer free and confidential services.
Student Legal Service
The Student Legal Service offers students professional free legal advice and referrals, where appropriate. The service is located on Level 5 of the Tower Building 1 and can be contacted directly for appointments in advance.
Financial Rights Legal Centre
The Financial Rights Legal Centre is a community legal centre specialising in financial services, particularly individual cases and policy issues related to consumer credit, banking and debt recovery. It is the only such centre in NSW, and has a particular focus on issues affecting vulnerable and disadvantaged consumers.
They can also provide free telephone hotline legal and financial advice to NSW consumers on credit, debt and banking matters. Call 1800 007 007

The Financial Counsellors Association of NSW
The Financial Counsellors Association of NSW offers a free and confidential service to consumers who are facing financial problems. –Their financial counsellors work for non-profit organisations, with offices throughout Greater Sydney and NSW..
