Our people and place
Our people
The teachers and researchers at UTS Business School are outward looking and actively engaged with business, the professions and community. This is what makes us different.
Many of our staff are former practitioners who have made the switch from the business world to academia, where they have a fresh impact as respected researchers and as teachers shaping the next generation of business leaders. Often, they continue to consult to industry in their areas of expertise.
We tap into best practice wherever it is to be found around the world, with our staff coming not only from Australia but also from Asia, Europe, North America and points in between.
Our place
Located in the heart of Sydney’s thriving tech and innovation precinct, at the doorstep of the CBD, UTS Business School’s contemporary and collaborative approach to education is embodied in the design of our home, the Dr Chau Chak Wing Building, designed by internationally-renowned architect Frank Gehry.
We respectfully acknowledge that we are located on the land of the Gadigal people, who have cared for their community, land and waters for thousands of generations, based on their deep knowledge of this country. For those of us who work and study here, we pay our respects to their Ancestors and their Elders, and acknowledge their ongoing status as the First Peoples of this place.
Our building
Inspired by the idea of a treehouse, the Dr Chau Chak Wing Building was designed by architect Frank Gehry as ’a growing learning organism with many branches of thought, some robust and some ephemeral and delicate’.
Gehry was determined to not only create a new Sydney landmark but internal spaces that inspire real and relevant research and learning outcomes, interdisciplinary collaboration and the cross-pollination of ideas.
